DepEd Official Statement: On the Inclusion of Same-Sex Unions in the K-10 Curriculum Guide

DepEd OFFICIAL STATEMENT 

An official statement concerning the inclusion of same-sex unions in the K–10 Curriculum Guide has been made public by the Department of Education (DepEd). The topic has been covered in the curriculum since 2013, in accordance with a statement made public on May 3, 2023, with the goals of giving students a deeper awareness of gender-based issues, fostering respect in the community, and supporting inclusivity.

The DepEd did admit that it had heard criticism regarding the inclusion of same-sex unions in the curriculum, though. The department promised to compile and take into account every comment as they work to complete the K–10 curriculum guide.

May 3, 2023 — The topic on same-sex unions has been in the curriculum since 2013. It seeks to provide learners with a broader understanding of gender-based issues, encourage respect within the community, and promote inclusivity.

Nonetheless, the Department will consolidate and consider all the comments received, as we move to finalize the K-10 curriculum guide.
