Next week, the Department of Education (DepEd) has advised schools to suspend face-to-face classes and switch to distance learning due to a transport strike by drivers protesting the jeepney phaseout in the country. The strike will take place from March 6 to 12.
Instead of suspending classes, the DepEd recommends implementing alternative delivery modes of teaching, such as modular or online classes. The Marikina Local Government Unit (LGU) has already suspended face-to-face classes for both public and private schools in the city during the strike.
Similarly, some universities have announced a temporary shift from onsite to online classes during the same period.
