The months of May and June have been packed with United Nations celebration that promotes awareness on family, culture, and environment. These three are taking important roles in society in particular in the field of education.

On May 21, the 2022 World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development was celebrated to raise public awareness of the value and importance of cultural diversity, and, in particular, to encourage, through education and the media, knowledge of the positive value of cultural diversity.



By virtue of the UN General Assembly resolution 66/292, the UN member states celebrate Global Day of Parents every June 1, in partnership with civil society, particularly young people and children. Families remain at the center of social life, ensuring the well-being of their members, educating and socializing children and youth, and caring for the young and old.

The United Nations designated 5 June as World Environment Day to highlight that the protection and health of the environment is a major issue, which affects the well-being of people and economic development throughout the world. The celebration of this day provides us with an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises, and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment.

To celebrate these United Nations international activities and declarations, the Department of Education (DepEd) – International Cooperation Office (ICO) in coordination with the United Nations Association of the Philippines (UNAP) and other education stakeholders and partner agencies will be holding an online activity entitled, Fostering Education within Family, Culture, and Environment.

It will be a discussion of UN advocates and professionals on fostering education within the family, culture, and in the environment.
