DepEd started distributing sim cards with connectivity loads for 1 M teachers, staff
July 12, 2021-Focused to provide basic service and assistance to staff in the midst of pandemic, the Department of Education (DepEd) has started distributing sim cards with connectivity load to one million teaching and non - teaching personnel at Central Office and field offices.According to a Memorandum from the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA) issued on July 1, permanent, contractual, local government personnel working in the field of DepEd schools, and offices may receive sim cards.
“This is part of our commitment to deliver the promises of the Bayanihan 2 Act. Through the support of our President, our lawmakers, and our field offices, DepEd has ensured that our personnel and teachers can efficiently provide basic education services to our learners despite the situation,” ani Kalihim ng Edukasyon Leonor Magtolis Briones.
The Asset Management Division (AMD) will distribute sim cards to the DepEd Central Office staff, while the Regional Supply Officer will distribute them to the Regions.
Apart from this, the Division Supply Officer was ordered to give grants to the staff of Schools Division Office (SDO) and Schools Property Custodians. At the same time, they will also give data allowance to school staff.
The Department also reminded the sharing authority to distribute the said grant to all teaching and non-teaching personnel until July 23.
All sim cards will be activated with an initial 34 GB load, which can be used for a year. Supply Officers and School Property Custodians will register sim cards at https://depedconnect.com.ph to provide load for the second month.
“The Department has procured the sim cards and connectivity load from our external partner for all the teaching and non-teaching personnel to ensure ease in communication and unhampered delivery of services amid the crisis,” pagbabahagi ni Pangalawang Kalihim Alain Del B. Pascua.
DepEd-CALABARZON will receive a total of 119,909 sim cards with load connectivity for their teaching and non-teaching personnel. Similarly, DepEd-Central Luzon will also receive 101,616 sim cards, and DepEd-National Capital Region will receive 88,781 sim cards.
Sim cards not distributed to schools and SDO staff by the end of July 2021 will be returned to Division Supply Officers for appropriate accounting. Also to Regional Supply Officers for regional personnel.
These efforts are led by the Information and Communications Technology Service under the leadership of Director Abram Y.C. Abanil, under Administration Strand led by Second Secretary Alain Del B. Pascua and Assistant Secretary Salvador Malana III. This is part of the Public Schools of the Future (PSOF) Framework of the Administration Strand under the leadership of Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones.
