House Bill 2609: Proposed Public School Teachers Scholarship Act [Scholarship Grant for Tuition Fee in Post Graduate Education]

Here's another benefits (House Bill) for teachers if ever this would be materialized.

House Bill 2609 or the proposed Public School Teachers Scholarship Act was filed by Batangas 4th District Lianda Bolilia.

The proposal aims to provide postgraduate scholarships to public elementary and high school teachers at state colleges and universities.

"It is no wonder that many of our quality teachers are now teaching or are working as caregivers or domestic helpers abroad," Bolilia said in his explanatory note.

Under his proposal, pagkakalooban ng scholarship grant para sa buong tuition sa postgraduate education ang mga guro na nasa aktibong serbisyon sa loob ng tatlong taon.

What are the requirements?

The teacher must also have a permanent position, have no pending administrative or criminal case, have a very satisfactory performance rating for the past two years, be physically and mentally fit, pass the SUC graduate mental ability test and have an average of 2.25 on his or her college transcript of records.

Once the teacher has completed the postgraduate program, he or she is still required to serve under the Department of Education for at least four years.
