Google Docs Compare Document Feature
Here’s an excellent feature of Google Docs called 'Compare Document', this feature allows users to compare documents. As a teacher or educator, you can use this tool to compare essays and track revisions, saving them time when grading. Business users can also use this feature during contract negotiations to see what terms have changed throughout the negotiation process and to compare the final version of the doc to the initial version.
On the other hand, students can also use this feature 'compare document' to help them keep track of the changes they made on a document. They can use this to capture the changes of their writing style, document new edits, and share feedback with their colleagues. Thus, compare document tool is really a helpful feature for students especially if they are working on a group project.
To access the tool Compare Document, follow the steps below:
1. Open any Google Doc — this will become your ‘base’ document. Next > From the toolbar, select Tools > Compare Documents.2. In the dialogue, click on Choose document to select the second Google Doc to compare against.
3. In the “Attribute differences to field”, enter the name of the user who will be labelled as the author of the suggested edits in the comparison output file. Select Compare. [See animated graphics below].
